Carpenter’s McCosker’s Wrasse

June 1st, 2009

UPDATE: I’m pretty sure this is actually a McCosker’s wrasse. The two appear to be commonly mistaken for each other.

Picked up a great little juvenile Carpenter’s McCosker’s flasher wrasse over the weekend. (Thanks to Mr. Pilkington!) He’s very tame and friendly, swimming right up to the glass and picking out of my fingers after only one day in the tank.

Solana – Day 17

May 12th, 2009

Levels looks good. pH still a bit low. Starting to get some algae bloom.

I added one more 2 lb rock today for a total of about 19-20 lbs. I went ahead and grabbed a handful of snails (margarita and astrea) along with some red leg hermits and bumped the light cycle up to 8 hours.

Solana – Day 5

April 30th, 2009

Day five is looking good. Water has cleared. Ammonia levels are about zero. Registering low levels of nitrites and nitrates. pH is a bit low… hanging around 7.7, but rising a little each day.
