Day 338: Two Corals Enter…

Monday, April 23rd, 2007

I came home today to find the (frikin’) clownfish had dumped over the galaxia again. But this time it landed on a corner of the favites brain. These two do NOT get along… the carnage follows…

Damaged Galaxia

The galaxia lost three polyps, and boy were they dead. The tissue just sloughed off and left three pearly white skeletons. I’m unsure how long the two had contact with each other, but it wasn’t more than about five or six hours.

Favites Brain

The brain seemed to fair better… it’s obviously upset and you can see the skeleton where some tissue has died off. I hope tissue necrosis doesn’t set in… I’m prepared to frag this guy up to save him if need be. I’ll be keeping close eye over the next few days.

Anyone want a maroon clownfish?

Galaxea fascicularis

Sunday, November 5th, 2006

Picked up a really cool Galaxea fascicularis yesterday. It’s green with neon green tips and there are a bunch of barnacles living in among the coral polyps.
